Greenville, SC - Greenville Federal Credit Union will host a community food drive on Thursday, November 12.  All items collected on “Thankful Thursday” will be donated to the local branch of Harvest Hope, South Carolina’s largest food bank providing over 50,000 meals a week to neighbors in need across the state.

The public is invited to drive by and drop off non-perishable food and pantry items at any of the credit union’s four branch locations.  Donors will not need to leave their cars as volunteers will be stationed outside to receive donated items.  All appropriate social distancing measures will be followed to protect both visitors and volunteers.

Local food banks are feeling the strain to keep their shelves stocked as many families are still struggling economically through the pandemic.  The credit union decided the best way to help replenish these much-needed resources was to rally its employees, members and community for a food drive.  “As we head into the season marked by food and celebration, we want to show our gratitude by sharing what we have with the most vulnerable in our community,” said Paul Hughes, President of Greenville Federal Credit Union. “This food drive is a simple way we can make a big impact for those in need.  Dropping off a couple of extra cans from your pantry or your next grocery run can mean a meal for a hungry family.”

Currently, the most needed items are:

  • Canned Meats
  • Canned Soup
  • Canned Vegetables
  • Cereal
  • Diapers
  • Dry Beans
  • Dry Pasta
  • Mac & Cheese
  • Paper Goods
  • Peanut Butter
  • Plastic Bags
  • Rice

“Our community has shown its generosity time and again and we know this will be another great example of people helping people,” continued Hughes.

Donations will be collected on November 12, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the following credit union locations:

3375 Pelham Rd., Greenville, SC 29615

1501 Wade Hampton Blvd., Greenville, SC 29609

107 W. Church St., Greer, SC 29650

142 Tanner Rd., Greenville, SC 29607
