The state is offering 1-year of identity theft protection and credit monitoring free of charge. To enroll, go to www.protectmyID.com/SCDOR and enter the activation code SCDOR123. You may also call 1-866-578-5422. The SCDOR is encouraging you to change your online passwords as well as put fraud alerts on your credit report.
What does this mean for Greenville Federal Credit Union member account holders? Our members' accounts, credit and debit cards continue to have fraud prevention measures in place. We do ask that our members monitor their accounts more regularly to help identify potential fraudulent activity. Because of the credit union's protective measures on its accounts, members should not have to close and re-open any account or reissue any card they may have with the credit union.
Additional steps you can take to reduce the risk of future identify theft:
- Routinely review your credit reports, credit card activity and credit union activity and statements.
- Shred or completely destroy all documents containing Personally Identifiable Information or account numbers.
- Secure your computer. Never use an unsecured Wi-Fi connection for performing online transactions and keep your computer malware free.
Did you use your credit union debit or credit card to pay your SC taxes?
